<p>In the year of Bingzi, the 26th year of the Shaoxing reign (1156 AD), due to the grand suburban sacrifice ceremony, Mazu was specially conferred the title of Lady Linghui. In the 27th year of the Shaoxing reign (1157 AD), about five li east of Putian City, there was a waterside market where many ships gathered. This place was called "Baihu Lake". In the autumn of this year, Mazu came to choose this place as her dwelling. The people of the Zhang and Shao clans jointly dreamed that Mazu indicated the location for building a temple. Chen Gongjunqing, the prime minister, heard about this. After inspecting the land, he found that it was indeed an auspicious site, so he used it to enshrine Mazu. In the year of Wuyin (1158 AD), the temple was completed.</p><p>In the 30th year of the Shaoxing reign (1160 AD), the bandit Liu Juxing and others gathered and marched all the way to Jiangkou. The local residents prayed devoutly at the Mazu Temple. Suddenly, a strong wind blew, smoke - filled waves surged to the sky, and the sky and earth became dark. The spirit of Mazu appeared in the air. The bandits were frightened and retreated. Soon after, the bandits attacked the estuary again. Mazu revealed her divine might once more, and the bandits were finally captured by the official army. This was reported to the imperial court, and the emperor issued an edict to confer an additional title on Mazu as "Lady Linghui, Zhaoying".</p><p><br/></p>
