<p>In the year of Renyin, the fourth year of the Xuanhe reign of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty (1122 AD), Lu Gong, the Censor, was ordered to be an envoy to Goryeo. When passing through the East China Sea, they encountered a strong wind. Among the eight boats, seven sank, and only Lu Gong's boat was violently shaking but did not capsize. In a hurry, Lu Gong prayed to the heavens for protection. At that moment, he saw a goddess appear on the mast, sitting upright in a red dress. Lu Gong quickly kowtowed and begged for her blessing. However, Goddess Mazu could sense our prayers in an instant and give her protection.
