<p>The temple initially built on Meiyu Island was very narrow and small. The son of an elder, who was devout and believed in Mazu, lived on the west side of the mountain. Mazu then appeared to him in a dream and said, "My temple is low and narrow. Expand it for me, and I will make your descendants prosperous." That night, both he and his wife had the same dream. Early the next morning, they went to the temple to worship and express their gratitude, saying that they were willing to follow Mazu's instructions. So, they bought land and spent money to expand the scale of the temple, and the appearance of the temple was completely renewed.</p>
